I recently had the opportunity to bless a couple from Shelby, NC, whose children had been in 5-day clubs through Child Evangelism Fellowship (the outreach I work with in the summer). Let me tell you a little bit about their story. The CEF director in Shelby, NC, has been regularly ministering to the children in a low income housing complex not too far away from the CEF office. She recently decided to begin a Bible study for the parents of the children and adults. Two of the teenage boys she had been ministering to, recently drowned in a pond. At the funeral, they presented the gospel message, and gave an invitation. Jahan, who had been coming regularly to Bible study, accepted Christ at that funeral. When he came home to his girlfriend and their children, he proposed to her and told her he didn’t want to live in sin any more with her, but wanted them to get married. Two days after he proposed, CEF of Shelby blessed them by organizing their wedding. I was able to surprise Jahan and Melinda by being their photographer. Melinda borrowed a dress from a friend, and Jahan said their rings were not real, but, they were still thrilled to have something that symbolized the special covenant they made with each other. Please keep Jahan, Melinda and their three children in your prayers as they begin a new life together.
